Master Sgt. Chris May, a member of the California National Guard's 146th Airlift Wing, secures mattresses on cots at a FEMA-approved alternate care site in Fresno, Calif., April 8, 2020, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The team from the 146th Airlift Wing, which includes 30 Airmen, has been working with FEMA, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and civilian agencies for the last two weeks to set up alternative care sites throughout California. A nine-person team from the 144th Fighter Wing, which is also located in Fresno, assisted with the effort to set up 265 beds. Together they completed the project in record time.
